Pork recipe-Kushiyaki Style Pork Hamburg with Wafu Salsa

Here’s one great idea to make handy Kushi yaki style Hamburg steak! Japanese love hamburg steak. I used to eat so many kinds when I was back in Japan. It usually comes with rather heavy sauce. This time I made very light healthy Wafu Salsa to enjoy hamburg steak. Since It comes on sticks, it can also become great finger food!

[ Ingredients ] *tsp=tea spoon tbs=table spoon
~ serves four to six ~
400g Ground pork
1/2 tsp Ginger paste
2~3 stalks Green onion, chopped
2 tsp Miso
1 Egg
Salt & black pepper to taste
[ Wafu Salsa]
5~6 Cherry tomatoes, chopped
1/8 Onion, chopped
2~3 stalks Cilantro, chopped
2 tsp Soy sauce
2 tsp Mirin

4~6 leaves Romaine lettuce
2~3 tsp Mayonnaise

[ Directions ]

1. Add salt into ground pork and mix well.

To make tender texture hamburg steak, make sure to add salt and mix until smooth.

2. And then add an egg, chopped green onion, ginger paste and miso.

3. Mix well allow all seasonings get evenly spread.

4. Before forming meat, you can coat your palm with some oil…

5. Basically, you can form into whatever the shape you like. This time I made them into a football shape.

6. You should be able to make about 8 to 10 portions.

7. Heat a fry pan on medium heat, add some oil. Gently place the patties.

8. Flip the patty when it turns golden.

9. Add about 1/4 cup of water into the pan.

10. Cover the pan and keep cooking on low heat for about 5 minutes or thoroughly cooked.

When clear or white gravy is start to showing on the surface, it’s done. You can shut off the stove.

11. Let’s prepare Wafu Salsa! Add all the chopped ingredients listed above into a bowl.

12. Add soy sauce and mirin, mix well.

13. This time I decided to make Kushi Yaki style. Skewer each meat with bamboo skewer.

14. Here’s very useful way of mayonnaise decoration! You can squeeze some mayo in the center of the wrap.

15. Twist the wrap to secure the mayo..

16. Pierce the bottom of the wrap with a toothpick.

17. Now you have easy & handy mayo squeeze bag!

This way, you can make nice decoration with small portion of mayo!

How you decorate is very much up to you. You can lay on a leaf of lettuce and put some salsa on top or directly serve on a plate. Making into sub sandwich is also a great idea!!(˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و
