[ Directions ]

1-
1. Add some salt to steamed rice, mix well.
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وTo roll rice into a ball easily, make sure to use warm steamed rice.
You can add some white sesame if you like!

2-
2. The red part of Pokemon ball can be made from crab sticks!

2-
3. Slice into half to make it thin so it sticks on rice easily.

2-
4. Lay a sheet of plastic wrap. Put about 120g of seasoned rice in the center.

2-
5. Gather the rice with the wrap.

2-
6. Roll into a round shape.
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وAt this point, you don’t have to squeeze too hard. Just to make it roughly comes to together.

2-
7. To prevent from sticking to your hands, have a bowl of water aside, wet your hands as you proceed. Expose the rice ball but remain on the plastic warp.

2-
8. Roll the rice ball to aside.

2-
9. Place the sliced crab sticks a little higher position than the rice ball.

2-
10. Put the rice ball on the crab sticks. Make sure the crab sticks cover only the half part to the rice ball.

2-
11. Wrap the whole piece again.

2-
12. This time you can squeeze a little tighter so the crab sticks will stay on.

2-
13. To make it easier to decorate and pack in a Bento box, the shape should be rather flat round instead of sphere.

2-
14. Cut Sushi nori into a long strip.
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وTo handle easily without sticking on your hands, I recommend using unseasoned nori.

2-
15. The size should be around 1cm x 20cm.

2-
16. Next, prepare the button. Cut 4~5cm square nori.

2-
17. To make 3cm diameter round nori, you can use a measure spoon!
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وIf you are OK without any guide to cut along with, you can skip these steps…

2-
18. Press a table spoon(15ml) against the nori so it will leave an impression.

2-
19. Now you have a perfect round shape mark!

2-
20. To be able to clip precisely, I use cosmetic scissors…

1-
21. Clip along with the mark..

2-
22. Now you have a piece of round shape nori!

2-
23. For another part of the button. You need sliced cheese. Remove only one side of plastic.

2-
24. This time, use 1/4 tea spoon(1.25ml) so you can have about 2cm diameter round cheese. Press against the cheese.

2-
25. It’ll be transferred into the spoon.

2-
26. Trim the edge to adjust the shape if needed.

2-
27. For one more part, use a thick straw, like the one comes with Mac shake.

2-
28. Press against the cheese.

2-
29. You can either blow it out or use a chop stick to pop out.

2-
30. Stack these nori, large cheese and small cheese to make one piece. Now you have a button ready!

1-
31. Now let’s assemble the pieces! Expose the rice ball, stick the nori strip on the place between the red and white part.

2-
32. Make sure to stick around the rice ball.

2-
33. Place the button in the middle.

2-
34. Wrap the whole piece again and hold it tight so all the parts can be secured in each position.

2-
35. Gotcha! Now you have your own “edible” Pokemon Ball~!!
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وYou can either remove the wrap or leave it on and pack into your bento box!

~How to make Pikachu~
1-
1. Firs of all, you need to prepare Pikachu cheek before hand. Cook thinly sliced carrot until soft.
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وAs long as it’s red or orange, you CAN use other materials to make this part. Red bell pepper, Ham, Crab stick or even ketchup!

2-
2. Add some salt to steamed rice.
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وTo roll rice ball easily, make sure to use warm steamed rice.

2-
3. To make Pikachu color rice, you can add curry or turmeric powder.
Add a little bit at time and see how the color and taste changes.
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وYou can keep adding until you see the color you want.

2-
4. Mix well, make sure the color spreads evenly.

2-
5. To make Pikachu head, you need about 80g of rice. Lay a sheet of plastic wrap, put the colored rice in the center.

2-
6. Gather the rice with the wrap..

2-
7. Roll the rice into a ball at first.

2-
8. And then gradually form into a triangle with rounded edges.

2-
9. Flat the surface so the face parts can sit well.

2-
10. Now you have Pikachu head ready!

2-
11. To make ears, you need two small sheet of plastic wrap. You can use a stationary knife to cut into two pieces.

2-
12. Put about 20g rice on each wrap.

2-
13. Roll the rice, and form into rabbit-like ear.

2-
14. If you have trouble imagining rabbit ears, you can simply think of a leaf…
Roll the other into the same shape.

2-
15. Now you have two identical pieces.

2-
16. Cut Sushi nori into chewing gum shape.

2-
17. For the eye parts, cut nori into one rectangular.

2-
18. And then fold in half.

2-
19. You can use a Mac shake straw to press against the nori to leave mark.

2-
20. Now you have a small round mark on nori.

1-
21. Cut along with the mark..

2-
22. Since it’s folded into half, you should have two identical small round nori clipped out.

2-
23. Here comes super tricky part..To make its mouth, you need to clip nori into the shape that’s similar to an alphabet “w” or number “3”

2-
24. You don’t have to make a perfect symmetry shape. Making somewhat two bumpy parts will just fine..
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وYou can use cosmetic scissors to make precise cut.

2-
25. Trim a square nori’s corner to make nose part.

2-
26. All you need is one tiny triangle…

2-
27. Now you can finally start assembling! Expose the ear.
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وTo prevent from sticking to your hands, have a bowl of water aside. Wet your hands as you proceed.

2-
28. Wrap one end with the chewing gum shape nori(step16.)

2-
29. Wrap it again so the nori can stick well.

2-
30. Do the same process to the other one. Now you have Pikachu ears ready!

1-
31. How do you attach the ears? You can use pasta!
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وOnce dry pasta placed in rice ball, it’ll slowly turn soft. There’s no need to remove when you eat!

2-
32. Snap into a pair of 5~6cm long pasta.

2-
33. Insert the pasta into the bottom part of ear.

2-
34. Remove the wrap from the head.

2-
35. Attach both ears to the head.

2-
36. Before placing eyes, you may want to look at this drawing. Whatever the character you are creating, the position of eye is the key! it determines whether it’s cute or not.. To make cute looking Pikachu, eyes should be located lower part of the face and have a little distance between the eyes. These two faces have the same face line and eyes. But as you can see, the on the left is much more like Pikachu while right one isn’t…

2-
37. Now.. let’s work on the face with the idea in the drawing above.

2-
38. After placing eyes, put the nose on lower part of between eyes.

2-
39. And the mouth goes to right below the nose.

2-
40. The pupils can be made with sliced cheese. Press a regular straw against it.

2-
41. You can make two tiny round cheese.

2-
42. The position of pupil is also important. Instead of placing right in the center, you can place them close each other. So it can have slight cross eyes which I believe makes more adorable looking.

2-
43. Now let’s carefully place pupils!

2-
44. Use a thick Mac shake straw to clip out two small round carrot.

2-
45. Place them on the cheek. Now you have super Kawaii Pikachu~♪ o(≧▽≦)o
『MASA’s Cooking Tips』
(•̀ㅂ•́)وAs I mentioned earlier, you CAN use other materials to make this part. Red bell pepper, ham, crab stick or even ketchup! You can directly squeeze on the cheek!

2-
Extra Steps:
46. If you have extra cooked carrot, you can lay them on plastic wrap.

2-
47. Cover them with another sheet of wrap.

2-
48. Fold in and store in the freezer. You can use them any time you want without any cooking process!
